Applemore Health & Leisure

One Call Fits AllWelcome to Applemore Swim Academy where tuition and coaching is available for all ages and abilities, including pre-school, juniors and adults. From the absolute beginners to those more advanced we are able to offer stroke development, lifesaving, diving, water pool, synchronised  and competitive swimming lessons.

Girls in Pool ImageApplemore Swim Academy runs for 46 weeks a year. This allows pupils to swim for longer and progression through the levels is improved as their are no long breaks so a smaller chance for regression. The Academy only stops for 6 weeks a year, 2 weeks at Easter, 2 weeks during the Summer and 2 weeks at Christmas.

Free Initial Assessment
To optimise pupils' progression, it is important that all swimmers enter the Academy at the correct level. However, this may not relate to the awards they have achieved from other swimming venues or from school swimming sessions, as syllabuses and standards vary. We therefore offer a free assessment to those who are unsure about their ability or level within the ASA's National Plan before they join the Academy. This will assist us in offering pupils the best opportunity of steady progression. To book your or your child's free initial assessment please contact the Programme Manager or alternatively complete an on-line application form.

Continual Assessment
Tuition and development with the Academy will continue through 46 weeks of the year. Progress and skill development will be recorded during each lesson ensuring the pupils' ability is continually monitored. When a swimmer meets the criteria of their current stage, the Swim Administrator will be notified, and will then inform you of the availability for the next stage. This progression can take place at any time during the year. If, however, a space on the next stage is not available or convenient for you, the instructor will work toward the higher grades syllabus within the existing class until a place becomes available.

If a pupil is having difficulties within a stage, whether it's mastering specific skills or regularly achieving a certain distance, then this will be brought to your attention via the Swim Administrator or instructor. There may be things you can do at home to help progression or we may offer some more intensive teaching for a period to assist individuals.

Applemore Swim Academy operates to the ASA National Plan and has a wide variety of lessons available at a range of times to be as convenient as possible to you the customer. Please look at our Academy schedule for lesson times.

Payment for Swimming lessons couldn't be simpler. We offer three types of payment options, all very user friendly and easy to understand. They are as follows:

Swim Direct Monthly: First months payment is taken over the till and from then on £19.50 will be deducted from the given bank account on or around the 26th of each month.
Swim Direct Yearly: A one off yearly fee of £215 meaning you swim for 12 months for the price of 11. The benefits of Swim Direct are as follows:

Free public swimming
Free Centre Membership, giving discounts on other activities
Pupils place is guaranteed
Hassle free payment for swimming lessons.

Quarterly Payments:
Payments of £60 are taken over the year in four quarters. Payments are due on the 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October. A letter will be sent 2 weeks before payment is due to remind customers.

New members of the Swim Academy are entitled to a free initial assessment to ensure all pupils are placed in the correct level. If pupils have achieved a swimming award elsewhere we still encourage them to have an assessment as award criteria can vary from centre to centre. To book an assessment please contact the Programme Manager by email or phone on 02380 423358 or alternatively complete an on-line application form.

Parents have the opportunity to request reports of their children's progress . This is available upon request at reception, alternatively apply on-line . The swimming instructor will endeavour to complete the report within 2 weeks and will either hand the report directly to the pupil/parent/guardian or give it to the Swim Administrator to be posted.
